little info about yourself (where are you from / retired / line of work): Active
duty Army SFC. Just returned from 13 months in the middle-east supporting operations
Enduring and Iraqi Freedom
| |
| | Date
of your trip: Nov 20-23, 2003
| | How
many days were you in Mexico? 4 Days
| | What
was your destination / what part of Mexico were you traveling in? Puerto
Penasco/Rocky Point | |
| | What
was the purpose of your trip (recreation / work related / other)? Recreation
| |
| | How
many people did you travel with? 7
| | What
kind of vehicle were you driving (Make / Model / etc.)? F-150 super cab
| |
| | How
did the vehicle handle the trip? No problems at all
| | How
were the road conditions? Any specific areas to be aware of? Good roads
from Lukeville to Puerto Penasco, and around town, but it was a pretty rough dirt
road for about 5 miles to get to our beach house rental at Playa La Jolla.
| | Did
you have a good time? Wonderful!!!
| | Would
you drive to Mexico again? Yes
| | What
would you do differently next time? Probably nothing...it was a good trip
| |
| | What
words of advice do you have for others driving to Mexico / or others who are driving
to a particular destination? Keep some loose change handy to give to the
myriad of charities you will encounter along the way. Top off your fuel before
you cross the border, and, unless you are staying at a resort, bring most of your
own food and water. | |
| | What
were some of the highlights of the trip? We would really like to hear about these!
The more descriptions and details, the better! This is the third time
we have been there. As we arrived on a thursday, we had the beach to ourselves.
Swam within 25 feet of a pair of dolphins, collected many shells, after the tide
went out we gathered a bucket full of clams for later. One of my kids stepped
on and got nailed by a stingray, but it only hurt for a few hours, and he was
back in the water. Shopping downtown was good, and the local fresh seafood was
tasty. | |
| | Where
did you sleep? Can you recommend a place to stay? We rented a beach house.
There are several to be had, and the prices arent too bad. Great privacy, but
you have to cook for yourself. Optionally, there are several resorts in the area,
and some nice campgrounds.
| | Can
you recommend any restaurants? We ate at the Friendly Dolphin restaraunt,
and it was very good. Not too expensive and good service. Didnt try any others.
| |
| | Any
other comments...feel free to ramble! There are great areas to shop for
Mexican wares, charter fishing available, ATV and small boat rentals. Plenty to
do, and we feel relatively safe in the area. Very relaxing area!
